Life zigs and zags. It twists and turns. Sometimes it’s smooth and sometimes it’s...complicated. Things can get tangled before they feel free. Things shrink so we can stretch. And sometimes we must protect ourselves in order to grow.

Life is not a simple straight line from here to there. But that’s what makes it so beautiful.

At UZIMA, we believe hair is life. How you show it, how you grow it, how you protect it and how you own it is an expression of your sacred, soulful multidimensionality. UZIMA is a Swahili word meaning Full Of Life. Inspired by our African roots, designed in Silicon Valley, and formulated with clean biotech especially for coily, kinky, and curly textures, UZIMA was created to help textured hair live life to its fullest.

Our Founder

Dry and stripped strands, an irritated scalp, hair loss - it all rang true for Leona Dondi. And despite countless products, endless treatments, and nonstop searching for the newest remedies, nothing satisfied the ever-growing needs of her struggling-to-grow coily hair. It seemed that everywhere she turned, the hair industry was leaving textured hair behind.

Her zone of genius was revealed as she discovered how her Kenyan roots and keen eye for innovative biotechnology could fuse together to create brilliant multidimensional formulas that gave both her strands and scalp everything they needed to grow, bloom, and shine.

UZIMA is the result - a collection of multidimensional formulas that do more for hair that needs more.
